Space Power Workshop (SPW)

Starts:  Apr 19, 2021 8:00 AM (PT)
Ends:  Apr 22, 2021 2:45 PM (PT)

You are cordially invited to the 38th annual Space Power Workshop. This year the workshop will be online to keep everyone safe and will be a mix of pre-recorded presentations and live interactions, including Q&A. The workshop provides an informal, unclassified, international forum for the exchange of ideas and information on space power. Space Power Workshop sessions include Mission and Program Experience, Power Systems Architecture, Power Management and Distribution (PMAD), Energy Generation, Energy Storage, and Advanced Concepts. The workshop will be held April 19 – 22, 2021.

This year’s theme is New Space, which is a new approach to developing Space Vehicles (SV) in addition to our heritage processes for highly reliable Space Vehicles (SV).  Rapid growth in the space industry in both the commercial and government sectors is driving this new perspective on space vehicle development and manufacturing.  New Space calls for interest in utilization of COTS (commercial off the shelf) parts, advanced high risk, high reward components, rapid, low cost manufacturing methods, and techniques for providing adequate reliability assurance faster, and at lower cost, especially for shorter duration 1-3 year missions.  Continued interest in next state-of the-art should positively impact Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) that meet the increasing demands of both the US government and private industry.

This year for the first time we will have a virtual Technical Exhibit session.
We will also have a SPW Lightning Talks session, using the popular Lightning Talk format.

The Space Power Workshop covers topics of interest to professionals with all levels of expertise.  The workshop also provides many industry networking opportunities with both domestic and international attendees. University students are welcome!

All activities are informal and unclassified.
